Established as a charity fun run, the Great Gorilla Run includes 100’s of participants (all dressed in full gorilla costume) running, jogging or walking a 7km route along the River Thames across Tower Bridge and past some of London’s most historic landmarks. The run was established in 2003 as an effort to raise funds to help save the remaining Mountain Gorillas left in the wild. Mountain Gorillas are one of the most endangered animals on earth, and there are currently fewer than 800 of these incredible primates left. Since its first year, the charity fun run has raised more than £1,000,000 for biodiversity conservation and poverty reduction projects in central Africa. (click to view more Gorilla Run photos)
